I'm strongly tempted to make a reproduction of this one, just because it's so fabulously peculiar. The problem is I don't do 2nd-4th c. Tarim Basin re-enactment. :) Nor do I know anyone who does. (And since I'm one of those fuddy-duddies who takes the whole "SCA is about Western civilization" thing seriously, I wouldn't be excited about making it for an SCA context even for someone else. I suppose it might make a nice mundane lounging robe ...)

That's really interesting. Your explanation for the decoration on the the front skirt-bit makes sense, more than it would if it were decoration only. This would be worth reproducing just to *understand* it.
